We bring you the exclusive first images of the new Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold. This is the first foldable smartphone from the Chinese brand Xiaomi and is a smartphone concept that will likely become a reality in the future.

The Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold is a foldable phone with an 8.01-inch OLED display. This striking smartphone from Xiaomi boasts a 2K resolution and a 4:3 aspect ratio when unfolded. The secondary display is a 6.5-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2520 x 840 pixels. Both screens offer 900 nits of brightness and HDR10+ support, with a 60Hz refresh rate on the OLED panel and a 90Hz refresh rate on the secondary display.

Perhaps the most striking feature of this device is its ability to unfold, reaching a width of almost 14 cm when unfolded, while when folded it measures less than 7 cm. Naturally, the weight is high for a device of this type, at 317 grams. Undoubtedly, the flexible OLED panel, which is compatible with Dolby Vision, is the most eye-catching aspect of this smartphone.

As for the processor, Xiaomi has once again opted for Qualcomm's most powerful chip, the Snapdragon 888, with 5G technology. This time, the Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold comes with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and two different storage options: one with 256GB of LPDDR5 RAM and another with 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

In terms of cameras, this foldable smartphone boasts a 108-megapixel main sensor, accompanied by two additional cameras: an 8-megapixel telemacro lens and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with a 123-degree field of view. For the front-facing camera, Xiaomi has opted for a high-quality 20-megapixel sensor. The most striking feature of the 108-megapixel camera is that both the lens and the image signal processor were developed in-house by Xiaomi.

This chip, called the Surge C1 (ISP), is primarily responsible for significantly improving image capture in low-light situations. Another striking feature of the Mi MIX Fold is its liquid lens technology. The lens's curvature radius can be adjusted using a motor developed by Xiaomi, allowing the phone to function as a 3x optical zoom lens, focusing on objects as close as 3 cm. This means the phone can be used as both a telephoto and a macro camera.

The Mi MIX Fold smartphone has a 5020 mAh battery that supports fast charging up to 67 watts, just like the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra. Another unusual feature of this device is that, being foldable, the Chinese brand has divided the battery into two sections: one with 2460 mAh and the other with 2560 mAh.

To avoid overheating problems, the Chinese brand Xiaomi opted for butterfly liquid cooling, which essentially takes advantage of the hinge area to increase dissipation to 22.58 square millimeters.

In terms of connectivity, this Mi MIX Fold has the latest technologies in terms of Wi-Fi 6, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0 and 5G speed.

The device is governed by a MIUI 12 operating system based on Android 10.
